My family spends every summer in San Diego. My brother and his family meet us there and we share a condo on the beach for one week. It is something we have done for over twenty years and we look forward it. During our visit we go to the local attractions. We also celebrate the summer birthdays. One of which is mine.

There was a summer that my nephew wanted to buy a gift himself for his aunt, that would be me. He spent his own money and picked out some sterling silver jewelry at a gift shop in one of those local attractions. He was so excited to give the present to me that he could have burst.

When it came time for cake, ice cream and gifts he was right there with a pretty pink wrapped package. I graciously accepted it, saved the frilly ribbon and gently ripped open the small box. Inside I found a sterling silver turtle necklace. It was very touching. My nephew stepping right up helped me to put it on. I wore it the remainder of the vacation.

I have made a point to clean that sterling silver necklace and wear it every year during our San Diego visit since then. My nephew is older now, he doesn't say anything about the sterling silver necklace but I know he notices his aunt wearing it.
