A few days ago I found my favorite charm bracelet lying on the dresser in my daughter’s bedroom. I knew that I hadn’t placed it there, and I also knew that I had not given her permission to wear the charm bracelet so I decided to take it from the dresser and wear it myself. I wondered how long it would be before she noticed that it was missing, and as it turns out, she still hasn’t noticed. If she has, she definitely hasn’t mentioned it, and I haven’t either.
The charm bracelet doesn’t hold a lot of sentimental value because it’s something that I bought for myself a while back when I found it online for a great price. Even though it’s something I bought for myself, my daughter knows that before she borrows anything from my closet or jewelry drawer that she’s supposed to ask, yet she failed to do so this time. I’m sure she’ll eventually come to me and mention the charm bracelet and the fact that it’s missing, but until that time comes, I’ll just keep wearing it and pretend that I know nothing about it.
